our story
Remembering the fact that the rearing and safe keeping of two endangered Rhinoceros named Moomin and Meimei inspired us to enter into this undertaking, we decided to name our product in their honour. At the time we could not realistically compare ourselves to one of the ‘Big Five’ so we decided to annex one of the ‘Little Five’ – Dynastinae, popularly known as the Rhinoceros beetle. The beetles are exceedingly strong (able to lift 850x their own weight!) and are characterised by the two horns on their head, hence the name Rhino Beetle : In spite of their fierce appearance, they are harmless as they cannot bite or sting or hurt you with their horns.

Initially we experimented with many different flavours in an effort to create truly unique taste experiences for gin lovers but we have (for now!) kept seven distinct bouquets, each one as special as the story giving rise to its creation.
Our gins are individually manufactured by hand, using the crystal clear spring water in the mountain and bottled in the tranquillity of the misty mountains of Haenertsburg.
Our Range
Our range of handcrafted gin offers a smooth and delicate finish, although at 43% proof it punches well above its weight! Best enjoyed with a classic tonic water or, if you insist, it blends well in cocktails which are only limited by your imagination!
The love and time invested in the production of each bottle is evident in every sip you take….
This is our story… so far.
